Juslin and Sloboda collaborated on the determination of volume structure and coverage, the commissioning of the 31 chapters, and editorial review. Sloboda was sole author of Chapter 18, first author of Chapter 4, and second author of Chapter 1 and Chapter 33. This edited volume includes chapters by some authors of the earlier volume "Music & Emotion: Theory & Research" (2001, also co-edited by Juslin & Sloboda). These authors substantially revised and updated their contributions (the remaining 19 contributions were completely new). Chapter 4 contains significant new material from 2001, and Chapter 18 contains almost completely new material.
