A new approximate formulation of periodic gravity waves
Significance of output:
Periodic gravity wave, a fundamental element of hydrodynamics, is nonlinear, known as Stokes wave due to his analytic expansion work on 1847. However, the expansion is only valid under small wave steepness assumption. To lift the small steepness restriction, the periodic gravity wave has been evaluated in many alternative ways, although none of them are simple. Therefore Stokes wave expansion remains the only choice for engineering scientists. In the present paper, a new evaluation expansion of the periodic gravity wave is introduced. The expansion is parallel to the Stokes wave expansion and is convergent without the small wave steepness assumption.
