<01> Originality: The application of transmit precoding in multiuser Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems with Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) receivers are examined. This paper has been the first to show that with simple MRC receivers the performance loss would be very little in comparison with more complex receivers if the precoders are selected as proposed.

Significance: The paper contributes towards the simplification of multiuser communication systems without degrading the gains associated with the use of the MIMO system.

Rigour: The results have been supported by extensive simulation results. Results published in a leading, peer-reviewed.
