Additional information

This was a collaborative volume where each of the three co-authors wrote on their own area of imperial expertise and then co-operated to produce a conclusion. This author's specific contribution was in instigating and conceptualising the project, writing the five chapters in Part Three of the book on Dutch decolonization, pp.273-384, and co-writing the overall introduction, pp.1-16 and the conclusion, pp.411-428. This looked thematically at a period of more than 30 years and provided a new methodology for understanding the pressures on successive Dutch regimes in attempting to maintain a hold on Empire.
