Additional information

This paper was the first peer-reviewed study integrating life cycle assessment and forest carbon analysis to quantify total greenhouse gas emissions of forest bioenergy. Results have assisted industry Ontario Power Generation (Rob Lyng - rob.lyng@opg.com) in improving emissions reductions through biomass fuel specification and biomass source selection and the method was employed by an Environment Canada (Anne-marie Chapman - Anne-Marie.Chapman@ec.gc.ca and Brian Titus - Brian.Titus@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca) project on development of sustainability guidelines for bioenergy.
