Polychromatic liquid crystal laser arrays towards display applications
This work on liquid crystal lasers was highlighted in Nature Photonics (A new twist to tuning lasers, Nature Photonics (April 2009), Volume 3 No 4 pp 177-236) and Laser Focus World (Liquid-crystal laser promises low-fabrication-cost display, (January 2009)). It formed the main work-package of the COSMOS Technology Translation award funded by the EPSRC in 2010 (£864k, EP/H046658/1). This research led to an invitation to write a review article ‘Liquid-crystal lasers’ Nature Photonics, 4, 676-685, (2010). It also formed the basis of our application that led to the Runner-up prize of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s ERA Foundation Entrepreneurs Award (2012).
