The paper was featured as the cover article and awarded the EPSRC & Royal Society Interface prize for best paper 2004-2009. The authors were subsequently invited to edit a 2-part special issue of Interface (2010 Vol.7). The work has led to collaborations with Unilever (EPSRC Industrial CASE studentship), Veloxis (Danish Sci.,Tech.& Innovation Agency studentship) and Leeds University (EPSRC grant EP/IO32428), EPSRC follow on grant (EP/J01334X) and patent no. 1102148-PCT/GB2012/050276; received a 2009 Royal Society Brian Mercer Innovation Award and the 2010 Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers Venture prize to start a spin-out company (AtoCap).
