Additional information

This work developed a technique to allow analysis to data taken in short durations tests, which decouples the convective changes from the local transient changes allowing for an assumption of quasi-steadiness. The “quasi-steady” technique has been applied by various research facilities to improve their data analysis. This research also supported successful grant applications to continue development of both facilities and experimental techniques to test scramjet engines in expansion tube facilities at the University of Queensland collectively totalling $AU1.5M. Invited lectures were presented on this work in Beijing Academy of Sciences, Kingston University and University of NSW Canberra (ADFA).
