Additional information

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems are ubiquitous in radio frequency (RF) wireless communications. The multiple antennas used at a receiver each require expensive receiver circuitry, so using only a subset (so-called receive antenna selection) can be used to reduce the number of receiver chains. The paper shows that it is possible to obtain almost optimal performance with a cross-entropy based approach to selection, thus reducing computational complexity and terminal power consumption substantially. Led to patent application (PCT/GB08/003565).
