Additional information

The paper presents the first in vivo evaluation of resonant MR enhancing Vena Cava Filters (VCF) and clearly demonstrated the unique imaging capability of blot clots captured by the filter. This is essential for timing of VCF retrieval and the magnetic resonance (MR) visibility allows MR guided placement avoiding ionizing radiation and nephrotoxic Iodine contrast agents. Based on the related patents by Andreas Melzer, VueKlar Ltd, Edinburgh, was spun out in 2010 and has raised in excess of £500k funding. VueKlar was elected to the high growth SME team of Scottish Enterprise.
