Additional information

The combustion performance and emissions of diesel premixed charge compression ignition combustion, which has been developed in recent years for low emissions, were investigated with a full-cycle 3D CFD model coupled with detailed chemical kinetics. Effects of optimized valve timing strategies were analysed for significant reduction of nitrogen oxides and soot emissions. The model used in this study includes processes of the engine compression-combustion-expansion, two-phase flows, atomization and vaporization, ignition, combustion and emission formation etc. The simulation output has been used by Imren et al. (Inonu Cad, Turkey) for developing a more detailed model for diesel engine combustion.
