The research paper questioned the extent to which Tapio Wirkkala’s glass production and exhibition policy was a major contributor to the international image of Scandinavian Modern as promoted at the Milan Triennales of 1951,1954, 1957, and 1960; the major ‘Design in Scandinavia’ exhibition that toured North America 1954-57; ‘Formes Scandinave’, France in 1958; and the ‘Finlandia’ exhibition that toured throughout 1961.
