Additional information

<20> This work was part of a PhD thesis by Marwan Alseid. One of the significant findings of this research was that the use of body gestures in addition to facial expressions in a teaching avatar makes learning for students more effective and efficient. This is an extension of previous work by the same author that demonstrates the effectiveness of facial expressions in lecturers and in teaching avatars. The work continued to produce empirically derived guidelines for the use of body gestures in expressive avatars for learning.
