Additional information

<20>The reported work has enabled the authors to understand the dynamics of facial expressions and apply those in facially expressive avatars in e-learning platforms. It has also enabled the authors to move toward the development of empirical derived guidelines for the use of facial expressions in avatars for e-learning purposes. Therefore, the significance of this paper, in the body of literature, is that researchers started to consider that the facial expressions of a lecturer and by extrapolation, given other research, of an expressive avatar significantly contributes to the learning effectiveness.
