This paper builds on the first concept diagrams publication that proposed a diagrammatic approach to ontology engineering, rather than the conventional use of symbolic notations. That first paper, entitled 'Visualising and Specifying Ontologies using Diagrammatic Logics', includes Howse and Stapleton as co-authors and was awarded Best Paper at the Australasian Ontologies Workshop 2009. ISWC is a leading outlet for semantic web research where papers undergo full peer review by at least three reviewers. Over 250 papers were submitted to ISWC 2011 (A rated, Australian ERA/CORE list) with acceptance rate 19%. An ISWC 2013 tutorial was delivered on this research.
