Additional information

The significance of this work is not only the use of cheap and easy to handle tungstic acid, but also the capability to fabricate bimodal mesoporous-mesoporous structures which is beyond pre- existing processes (Innocenzi and Malfatti, Chem. Soc. Rev., 2013, 42, 4198). The outcomes establish scientific fundamentals and technological know-how of this method and are recognised in the controlling of microstructure and morphology for improving colouration efficiency and switching kinetics by Wojcik et al, p.wojcik@campus.fct.unl.pt .
