Additional information

Clear signatures of core and valence band exciton formation, promoted by the spatial confinement of electrons and holes within size selected, Si nanocrystals has identified a lower limit to the nanocrystal band gap and provided new insights into their electronic properties, resulting in higher efficiency of nanocrystalline silicon solar cells. This work resulted in the award of a EU grant between the UK, India and Ireland, and two joint Indo-Ireland grants.
