Additional information

<23> This paper presents an automated segmentation system of phantom PET volumes using multiresolution analysis and its efficient implementation on FPGA. The proposed system has shown promising results and has been demonstrated for real time detection of tumours in 3D volumes. The research is based on previous collaborations with the Royal Vitoria Hospital-Belfast and an internationally recognised researcher at Geneva Hospital. The work complements previous research presented in top international conferences (ICASSP, ISCAS, ICIP) and the system software implementation presented in another journal paper which was awarded the 2008 Varian Award for the best paper impacting in medical physics.
