An undivided zinc-cerium redox flow battery operating at room temperature
Significance of output:
Unlike traditional systems for electrical storage, that use a membrane to separate the anode and cathode, this system does not need a membrane but results in similar energy, electrical charge and voltage efficiencies. The result is a simple more efficient battery design that can be assembled at a lower cost, opening new possibilities in redox flow battery research. Interest from a Spanish research institute in this paper (Dr. Francisco Alcaide; falcaide@cidetec.es) resulted in a research visitor from CIDETEC (www.cidetec.es) to our laboratory for a month to explore and establish collaboration on redox flow batteries.
