A logic-reasoning based system to harness bioprocess experimental data and knowledge for design
This multidisciplinary work (Biochemical Engineering and Computer Science) presents a new computational method that uses artificial intelligence to harness bioprocess data and knowledge to assist decision making. Experimental data including terms, e.g. strains, have been standardised and the relationships among the terms have been modelled. Three data mining and analysis functionalities have been created. This enables the method to handle data heterogeneity, incompleteness and inconsistency which are often found in industrial data sets. Bioprocess development is experimentally intensive and costly. This tool has the potential to utilise the data systematically and to more effectively manage the data and knowledge generated.
