Linear programming method for computing the gamut of object color solid
In order to properly test various new developments in colour measurement it is useful to know the gamut (or range) of colours that can exist in the world. Prior to this work the only way to calculate the so-called object-colour solid was using a laborious technique that made the calculation impractical in many circumstances. The work led by Luo is the first to apply an efficient algorithm (known as linear programming) to the problem of calculating the object-colour solid. The method has wide applicability in colour imaging and has been recommended as an international standard method by the CIE (international Lighting Commission).
