The editors played an equal role in the conception and editing of the volume, a series of essays in honour of A.J. Woodman, a leading scholar of ancient historiography. They co-wrote an introduction on the scholarly career of Woodman (pp. 1-11). Pelling also contributed a chapter of his own (pp. 364-84).
