Additional information

Following in-vitro trials of medical devices it became apparent that laser marking was not a passive marking technology (as regards fatigue) as previously depicted. Laser marking is the most common form of permanent marking and as implantable devices are becoming ever more slight in nature its effects on fatigue are becoming more important. Following an extensive literature review we found that little had been published. We therefore conducted a targeted research study into the effects of laser marking on fatigue properties of medical devices. We know of one litigation case that is using this output as a basis for evidence.
