Significance of output:

The first paper on Exit-chart optimized low-delay block codes for wireless video. This work represents a paradigm shift in the way we design soft bit-based video systems and inspired a sequence of related papers. The concepts were subsequently presented at the 2010 IEEE ICC conference and won a Best Paper Award. This work led to a 2.5M Euro ERC Advanced Fellow grant (Proposal No. 321097), plus to the prestigious INDIA-UK-ADVANCED-TECHNOLOGY-CENTRE funded by RCUK and the Indian Government (£5M; 5 years; http://www.iu-atc.com/). BT also funded a PhD-student to carry on with this work.
