<12>This paper introduced the notion of a collision detector, a new oracle abstraction for analysing coordination and agreement algorithms in wireless ad hoc and radio networks. The work in this extended journal version of a PODC'05 conference paper has already had wide impact. There are numerous follow-on applications of the. collision detector abstraction, for example by Lynch and Newport on Abstract MAC Layer (MIT), and Bhandari and Vaidya on Reliable Communication in Wireless Networks (Urbana-Champaign). Invited talks on the work were given at Cornell Systems Lunch (2008), and Swedish Institute for Computer Science (2010).
