Additional information

<28>The paper presents an experimental analysis of new local search procedures for protein folding simulations in three-dimensional lattices with the Miyazawa-Jernigan energy function. The new method identifies all global minima on prominent MJ-model benchmark problems and requires a significant smaller number of energy function evaluations when compared to Monte Carlo simulations with kink-jump moves. The paper is the result of collaborative research within the EPSRC project EP/D062012/1 and has recently inspired follow-up papers by other researchers, published, for example, in BMC Bioinformatics and GECCO 2013 ACM Proceedings.
