Additional information

This is the first real space in-situ study of crystallisation in polymer thin films during spin-coating. Moreover, we show that for a blend of polymers, phase separation and crystallisation are not linked, as was previously thought. This study therefore takes new steps towards our understanding of material processing steps and the resulting crystallisation, allowing for informed decisions about solution processing. This is particularly vital for the future of organic electronics, such as organic photovoltaics, because control over crystallisation and phase separation will lead to greater device performance. Organic electronics is foreseen as a vital component for addressing energy concerns.
