Additional information

This paper which Claire has ably completed was a result of a study of which I was project leader at Silsoe Research Institute which was closed by BBSRC. I applied for the funding and was awarded it, I designed the initial equipment and the study design and organised the sample collection. The cow in the picture I hired from a farmer and brought to Claire’s lab window to breathe through a pipe into the SIFT machine. The SIFT machine had been transferred from my lab on the closure of SRI for which I raised the funding for £250k.

Thus I made a substantial contribution to the conception and design of the study; to the organisation of the conduct of the study; or to carrying out the study (including acquisition of study data) .
