Dual-wavelength, ultralong Raman laser with Rayleigh-scattering feedback
This paper led on from initial work on EPSRC project EP/E015646/1 and showed the possibility of multi-wavelength outputs from the type of laser developed there. This led to EPSRC CASE PhD studentships (total value £41k) with AZEA Networks (now part of Xtera Communications) and Xtera Communications (contact stuart.barnes@xtera.com for both) to investigate telecoms applications. Since publication of this initial proof of principle work, I co-authored a further Optics Letter (Vol35(7)pp110) and 3 international conference papers on this topic. The work has led to an international collaboration with the Institute of Automation and Electrometry, Novosibirsk, Russia.
