The web based Journal of the International Colour Association (AIC) aim is to publish multi-disciplinary work about colour and is affiliated to the International Colour Association (AIC) an international organisation devoted to research, training, and dissemination of knowledge in colour.

The journal article ‘Colour, Health and Wellbeing: The Hidden Qualities and Properties of Natural Dyes’ was published in Issue 11.

The article addresses the questions: Is it feasible that the chemicals present in the natural dyes of both plants and insects which in the past, man has exploited for their colour, could exhibit other properties? And, In the future will these natural colours be understood and exploited for the health and wellbeing of Mankind?

This research was initially presented as a poster ‘More than Natures Colours’ and published in its full written format at the 2013 International Colour Association (AIC) Congress ‘Bring Colour to Life’ which is held every four years. The International Colour Association, is made up of colour societies from across the world. Its objectives are to encourage research in all aspects of colour, to disseminate the knowledge gained from this research and to promote its application to the solution of problems in the fields of science, art, design and industry on an international basis.

An increased impact of the initial research to a worldwide audience has been achieved through different media: A result of the open access article published in the JAIC and the published conference proceedings. This research has also been published in the E-Magazine ‘Health Naturally Magazine: Issue 16’ available on Newsstand Apple App. and as an interview ‘Wells: For a sustainable life, wearing natural colors.’ by the Italian company Finmeccanica focusing on sustainability for their web-based blog ‘Planet Inspired’.
