Congenital Heart Disease: Cardiovascular MR Imaging by Using an Intravascular Blood Pool Contrast Agent
Imaging in congenital heart disease is complex due to the large variety of functional and vascular abnormalities. In this prospective study the diagnostic value of a novel intravascular contrast agent with an optimized whole chest MRI sequence was compared to previously used extravascular contrast agents and sequences. This approach improved diagnostic accuracy significantly. New, unsuspected disease was found in 23% and other diseases were excluded in 65% of cases. This new technique has been adopted as the clinical standard locally. This paper was published in one of the leading medical imaging journals.
