Additional information

The paper reported, for the first time, the possibility of altering the interface sharpness, as well as individual layer waviness, of nanoscale multilayer structured coatings by intensive bombardment with metal ions generated in High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HIPIMS) discharge. It demonstrated that HIPIMS is a powerful tool for coating structure and therefore performance manipulation. It contributed to the knowledge of PVD coating growth and structure formation in conditions of high ion irradiation. It also contributed to the successful delivery of 12.5MEuro (1.1MEuro to SHU) EC-funded Integrated Project "Innovatial" and two PhD completions.
