This paper provides a new method of analysing non-linear dynamic systems which can be applied to many civil or mechanical engineering systems. The method is more computationally efficient, accurate and stable compared to conventional approaches and therefore represents an important step forward in the field. The work formed part of a highly rated EPSRC funded project (GR/R15252/01).
