The paper presents the first study investigating the water retaining characteristics of lime and cement mortars in the freshly-mixed state. It was funded by EPSRC research grant EP/D05320X/1 Characterisation and modelling of dewatering in lime mortar systems and formed a collaboration with the University of Manchester.
