Additional information

<23> This paper, published in a top journal in the field, describes a rigorous comparison of the accuracy of an alternative physics-based statistical shape modelling approach developed at UCL (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.media.2010.11.003) with standard 3D transformation models of organ motion used in the field for non-rigid image registration. A detailed analysis of image registration errors in recovering the in vivo deformation of human prostates during surgical procedures demonstrates the superiority of this new approach in terms of accuracy and computational stability. To date, this method has been successfully applied to non-rigid prostate MR-ultrasound registration in over 150 patient cases at UCLH.
