Additional information

<28> An automated method to establish correspondence between an X-ray mammogram and an MR volume image in breast cancer screening. Originality: Models X-ray appearance by segmentation and projection of the transformed MR volume and, surprisingly, shows the 3D affine transform is adequate for clinical purposes when viewing both MR and X-ray mammograms. Rigour: Trained and tested on >100 datasets annotated by experienced radiologists. Impact: International authorship. First time registration accuracy is sufficient (~10mm) to eliminate many false positives in the interpretation of breast MRI. Implementation on commercially available clinical workstations is in progress.
