Effect of Simulated Combustor Temperature Nonuniformity on HP Vane and End Wall Heat Transfer: An Experimental and Computational Investigation
The results presented in this paper are the first accurate experimental heat transfer measurements on nozzle guide vanes to have been performed in the presence of engine realistic temperature distortions representing the combustor. The research directly contributed to the case for significant follow on research in the Oxford Turbine Research Facility. Grants secured because of this research include: SILOET (Rolls-Royce/TSB) £500k; SAMULET (Rolls-Royce/TSB) £400k; SEOTDF (Rolls-Royce) £141k; LEMCOTEC (GKN/Rolls-Royce/EU 7th Framework) £588k; FACTOR (GKN/Rolls-Royce/EU 7th Framework) £330k; IP Vane Heat Transfer (GKN/Swedish Government) £107k.
