Additional information

This work has been the topic of an invited keynote (GRIBOI-Boston-2013) and invited presentation (Bioceramics25-Bucharest-2013). Technology and know-how from this research has been adopted by industry (NHSBT-Dr Paul Rooney and DePuy Synthes-Dr Neil Watkins) to develop innovative biomaterials strategies for treatment of vertebral fractures. The research program associated with this output has led to hosting of international symposia (European Society Biomaterials-2009, World Congress Biomechanics-2011 and World Biomaterials Congress-2012) and securing of research funding from Orthopaedic Research-UK (#480:£80k-2012), MRC-UK (MC-PC_12021:£76k-2013) and NSF-USA (DMR-1306741:£880k-2013) with Cambridge University-Professor Serena Best, Colorado State University-Professor Tammy Haut Donohue and Trinity College Dublin-Dr Daniel Kelly.
