Additional information

Design optimisation using CAD models is complex because the way they are parameterised means it is difficult to achieve the shape changes suggested by analysis. This paper introduces the brand new and foundational concept of Parametric Effectiveness, which measures how good the parameterisation of a CAD model is for the purposes of optimisation. Benefits include allowing the optimum set of parameters to be selected, resulting in more effective optimisation. One reviewer commented that this work “is of significant value to the industry”.
