Additional information

Dryden Goodwin is a mixed-media artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally. ‘Cast’, the last exhibition held at the Photographers Gallery in Gt. Newport St, included several new commissions and, as the curator working closely with the artist, allowed me to present an in-depth study of the relationship between his practice and photography. My essay in the accompanying monograph researched the relationship between his technical innovations and the history of media, and what this suggests for the genre of documentary street photography today. In consultation with the artist, I designed the installation and layout of the gallery, using wall colour to create specific visual effects. 44,000 visitors attended during the exhibition's 8 week run, and it was then toured to the Hasselblad Foundation in Sweden.

The output is presented via portfolio, which should be viewed in order to gain proper understanding of the research.
