Additional information

This publication underwent full peer review and was a key deliverable from an EPSRC CASE project awarded by BP. It demonstrated for the first time that both high-resolution microscopy and ultra-high speed microscopic imaging can be applied successfully at realistic engine conditions (citation evidence: Manin et al. (2012) THIESEL 2012). This work forms the basis of a £0.75m collaborative EPSRC grant with City University and BP (EP/K020528/1; EP/K020846/1).
