Additional information

The work advances evolutionary computing. The output of an EPSRC funded project (EP/E028381/1), it represents the first rigorous statistical analysis of multicellular systems. Statistical data is available on IEEE Xplore maximising the impact, defining sound benchmarks and usefulness to practitioners. A subsequent paper based on this work was runner-up for best paper award at the GECCO 2010 conference. The work has led to a patent application (P1166GB, 2010) on a novel data compression technique based on artificial development.
