First in situ documentation of water-transported sedimentary gravels on the surface of Mars from NASA's Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover mission on which Gupta is a Science Team member and Long Term Science Planner. Provides direct evidence of sustained surface water flow on ancient Mars. Research led to a plenary talk at International Association of Sedimentologists Conference (Manchester, UK 09/2013), and invited public talks at Cheltenham Science Festival (6/2013), UK National Astronomy Meeting (St. Andrews 7/2013), and Geological Society of London Shell London Lecture series (9/8/2013). Featured on BBC1, 6 and 10 o'clock TV news (8/2013).
