Additional information

This paper demonstrates how physical models, which treat implicitly the key reaction equilibria involved in CO2-capture processes, can be used with amine solvents. Results are shown to be highly reliable in comparisons with experimental data over wide ranges of temperature, pressure and composition, and for different solvents. This provides a distinct advantage for process design and development and has attracted significant industrial interest, including funding for a PhD (E.On) and the recent acquisition of the rights to the underlying technology by Process Systems Enterprise Ltd (http://www.psenterprise.com/gproms/options/physprops/saft/) where it is already finding extensive industrial application (m.matzopoulos@psenterprise.com).
