Drawing and the Material Conditions of Space

This output, ‘Drawing and the Material Conditions of Space’ is a text that was presented as a keynote address, first at an international conference,

Technologies of Drawing, organised by the University of Huddersfield in collaboration with the British Sculpture Network in 2011,

and then at the Drawing Research Network (DRN) Conference, Loughborough in 2012. It was accepted for publication by

TRACEY, the online peer reviewed journal of DRN. It is illustrated in part by the author’s own drawings/collages. It grows out of

the single authored book, Architectural Drawing. Though this is a student-focused primer, the book contains a large number of

the author’s own works and experimental processes that led to the more theoretical reflections in the article. The book,

Architectural Drawing (London: Laurence King, 2010, ISBN 9781856696791) has also been published in Dutch
