Significance of output:

This work has been carried out by a multidisciplinary team from the University of Southampton comprising engineers and biologists. A new and more accurate model for insect muscle has been developed. Locust muscles have been chosen since they are easy to control and they are representative of the behaviour of mammalian muscles. The outcomes of this research may lead to the improvement of human muscles model, embracing prosthetic design and muscle therapy.
