Using new image processing techniques developed by Morgan under a NASA SHINE research grant, this paper presents the first discovery of 'closed' magnetic fields expanding directly into the extended solar corona, with significant implications for interpreting measurements of the slow solar wind. Morgan's presentation on the material at the UK National Astronomy Meeting 2013 was selected as a paper of interest to the news media.
