Additional information

This paper measures for the first time a qubit encoded over three electron-spins. The three-spin encoding is unique because, unlike simpler electron-spin qubit schemes, it relies neither on time-varying magnetic-fields nor on field-gradients to control the qubit. (Both of these are hard to implement on-chip, especially in a cryogenic-environment.) Instead, we showed how to control the qubit using gate- voltage-pulses. This paper demonstrates only a simple qubit operation, but explains what is needed for full control. World-class groups in Harvard and Ottowa have been successful in implementing this methodology, and contributing to a significant number of citations to this paper.
