Additional information

This is the first realization of an electron spin qubit in a carbon nanotube. Carbon nanotubes are outstanding qubit host materials because unlike some other semiconductors they can be made free of hyperfine decoherence. This work shows how to control a qubit using a bend in the nanotube, and makes the first measurement of the coherance time using pulsed resonance techniques applied to a single nanotube quantum dot. Picked up as a news item by http://phys.org/news/2013-07-scientists-quantum-bit-bent-nanotube.html. Building on this work is the focus of my 2013 Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship and a £100k Marie Curie CIG.
