Additional information

This volume of commissioned essays by leading international scholars of medieval women’s studies arose out of a conference that I conceived of and hosted at Bangor (2007). Having secured the contract with Boydell and Brewer, I commissioned the individual essays, wrote the introduction (8,000 words), contributed my own essay (8,000 words), edited all of the other contributions and provided the critical apparatus for the volume. Expanding the field of life-cycle studies, this interdisciplinary collection has set the parameters of the study of female middle-age in the Middle Ages, and remains, to date, the only scholarship devoted to this topic.
